If you want to learn all things yoga mats you have landed in the right place, learn everything there is to know about our mats and come flow with us!

What are the yoga mats made out of?
Top surface:
Vegan Suede made from recycled plastic bottles. This recycled suede is also recyclable. Printed with water based inks.
Bottom surface: Natural Tree Rubber

How is this different from other mats/ what does it mean?
Our mats are completely free of toxins such as PVC, TPE, EVA and NBR.
The two surfaces (recycled suede and natural rubber) are cast together via heat and pressure by a press machine compound without the use of any any solvent or glue, plasticizers or phthalates. It is just the two surfaces casted together by heat.

What are the characteristics of these materials? Is the mat suitable for hot yoga?
The top layer is an ultra absorbent micro-suede which is great for a sweaty practice. The top surface is very silky and smooth to the touch and its capacity to absorb water makes it perfect for sweat, as it gets more grip the more you sweat. We suggest this mat for humid climates and for people who sweat in their practice. For those who don’t sweat at all and their skin tends to be on the dry side we suggest to always spray some water over the mat for extra grip before using it. Caro doesn’t sweat a lot and does this before every practice and loves it.
If you don’t sweat and don’t want to spray water before you practice this may not be the right mat for you, as the amount of slide in this scenario may not be ideal for your practice and could even be dangerous. Please be mindful about this before shopping as we are a micro small business and can’t accept returns or make refunds for the mats at this time.
The recycled suede is perfect for a super durable and vivid design that will not rub off or fade away with time. The bottom surface of natural tree rubber gives the mat a beautiful grip to the floor so it doesn’t slip during your practice.

What will my mat be packed on?

Are your mats eco-friendly?
This is a complex question but we are glad to be able to answer with complete transparency. We believe this yoga mats are the most sustainable yoga mats we could do but we still don’t believe they are completely eco friendly, let me explain why: When making our yoga mats we went with the most sustainable options available. Even though we chose the most sustainable options available we still believe they are not perfect. The mats are made with water based inks; this inks are way better than petroleum based ones which is amazing! But most water based inks are made from soy, which is still problematic. We dream of the day when yoga mats can be printed with algae ink which is the most sustainable ink, unfortunately it is not available for mats today.
Our yoga mats are ethically and sustainably made in China. Our manufacturer is certified sustainable and showcase transparency in their whole chain as well as ensuring all right to workers. Even tough our manufacturer is amazingly responsible for humans and planet, the mats are being shipped from China to the US which is a bigger carbon footprint than if they would be manufactured locally. Unfortunately, there is no local companies that work with the sustainable materials our mats are made from. In order to make the carbon footprint as small as we can, we have ordered only one shipment of mats instead of ordering them in smaller amounts several times.
Is this mat the most sustainable mat we could’ve made? Yes! Is this mat completely zero-waste and would I label it as completely eco-friendly? No. As a tiny small business owner in the pursuit of sustainability I believe my job is to be completely transparent with the way I am doing things, as well as doing the most research I can on the manufacturers I partner with to ensure we uphold our integrity, ethics and values.

Cleaning:
Use a cloth with water to clean your mat. If your mat is very very dirty you can use a cloth with a mild natural soap or put your mat in the washing machine (with cold water only) to wash and then dry outside with fresh air, we recommend doing this only when really necessary as some of the suede threads may start coming out from the border.

Giving it it’s best life:
This yoga mat loves to see you flow on it as often as you can. The more you use it the grippier (and happier!) it will get. In order to give the artwork its best life please avoid long hours of direct sun exposure and always roll (don’t fold) your mat when not using it. Your mat doesn’t like oils so try to avoid oily things when using it, and more than anything to give it it’s best life we invite you to flow happily with it.

Will you be donating 5% of the yoga mat sales to the Amazon basin as you do with your other artwork sales?
5% of sales from the yoga mats will be going to “Sewing The Seed” project; Sewing the Seeds is a women’s empowerment initiative that utilizes creativity and enterprise as their main tools towards change. You can learn more about them here: https://www.sewingtheseeds.org/our-purpose

What is the meaning of the painting?
When I decided to do a painting for this yoga mat I started thinking about what is it that I love about flowing on my mat; yoga is this daily practice that brings me back to feeling I am a dancing flower, a drop of life in the vast ocean of oneness we all conform. Yoga is a practice that reminds me how inspiring it can feel to be alive in unity with all the other living beings in this planet and this is exactly what I had in mind when I started painting for this yoga mat design. I wanted to make a painting that felt like a love letter to life, to mama earth, to our collective and individual flow and natural rhythms. The flora, fauna and fungi that I decided to showcase in the mat are a mix of some of my favorite allies and the allies which protect the lands where I currently reside; Elecampane, Oyster Mushrooms, White Sage, King Trumpet Mushrooms, Lavender, Liberty Cap, Echinacea and the magic of the bees. All growing together, in kinship with the mystery, the third eye of intuition, the rhythms of the micro and the macroscopic universal flow.

A few more details on international orders:
Hi world-wide friends! thank you for your interest on the yoga mats. I am happy to share that I will be shipping internationally. Some things to keep in mind: the international shipping cost is high as this is how much it actually costs to ship the mats, we are making no profit from it. Please keep in mind that depending on your country’s rules you may be asked to pay custom fees for your order, this is completely out of our control as it is managed by your country’s rules, we are unable to know if this will happen to your order for sure, as it varies with every order and we do not cover the costs of custom fees, please shop mindfully. Currently we aren’t shipping to UK as we are tying our best to figure out the new VAT system there and hope to have a solution ASAP. Australia is currently pausing all package delivery but we will be shipping your mats as soon as this is back up and running, thank you for all your patience, postal services have been a little wacky this year.
